The Women's Center at North Florida Regional Medical Center provides comprehensive care throughout your pregnancy, childbirth experience and postpartum recovery. We offer family-centered care that focuses equally on the needs of you and your baby.

When you choose The Women's Center for your childbirth experience, we support you throughout your pregnancy. Our prenatal care program encompasses parent education classes to help parents prepare for the upcoming birth of their child. Additionally, we offer high-risk pregnancy care for expectant mothers who require additional attention and monitoring during pregnancy.

Comprehensive childbirth services

The Women's Center offers an environment that promotes a healthy, safe and comfortable childbirth experience. Our maternity unit is staffed by highly trained professionals with years of experience in maternity and childbirth care.

Our services and amenities include:

  • 24-hour visitation allowed for friends and family
  • All private patient rooms
  • Anesthesiologist on-site 24/7 to assist with emergency cesarean sections
  • Dedicated infant protection system
  • In-room sleeping arrangement for spouse, partner or chosen support person
  • Locked unit for the security of you and your newborn
  • Pain management options, including epidural and intravenous (IV) pain medication
  • Patient rooms featuring a private bathroom, bath tub, couch, television and comfortable furnishings

Postpartum care

New parents can have comfort knowing that our maternity services are designed to ease the stress often associated with the immediate postpartum period. Our staff includes a board-certified lactation consultant who is readily available to assist new mothers with breastfeeding and answer any questions about infant feeding.

Following discharge from the hospital, weekly postpartum lunches are hosted every Tuesday from 11:30am to 2:00pm for women who have given birth in The Women's Center. These luncheons offer support and an opportunity to network with other new mothers. In addition to lunch, education on a variety of topics, including lactation support, is provided.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Our hospital is home to a brand new 25-bed, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located on the third floor of our hospital's South Tower. Our NICU offers medical care to newborns who need extra support following delivery. We care for premature babies born as early as 24 weeks and babies with complicated medical conditions that require additional monitoring and treatment.
