Parent Education Classes

At the Women's Center, we provide you with the education and support to help you feel safe, secure, and confident throughout your pregnancy, delivery, and during the early days with your precious newborn baby. We offer classes both in-person and online.

About the Parent Education Classes at NFRMC

Your time and health are always important, but many women with busy lifestyles do not have the time to seek out complete healthcare services. With this in mind, The Women's Center at North Florida Regional Medical Center (NFRMC) offers comprehensive health and wellness services that are specifically centered around women's needs.

Located in the North Tower of North Florida Regional Medical Center, The Women's Center includes maternity services, surgery facilities, physician offices, and a diagnostic center.

Maternity Needs

During pregnancy, women need special care and attention. Choosing the right environment as well as the right professionals to help you through this period are important parts of a healthy, safe, and comfortable pregnancy. Recognized as having one of the top 10 maternity units in the nation by Child Magazine, The Women's Center is suited to help with all of your maternity needs.

Postpartum Care

New parents can feel comfortable knowing that services are available to make the immediate postpartum period less stressful. A board-certified Lactation Consultant is readily available to assist with breastfeeding, as well as answer questions about infant feeding. Following discharge, postpartum lunches are offered every Tuesday from 11:30am-2:00pm for women that have given birth at The Women's Center. At the luncheon, new mothers are offered an array of support such as an opportunity to communicate with other new mothers, education on a wide variety of topics, and lactation support.

Parent Education

Good preparation can help you feel more confident both before and after your baby is born. The Women's Center offers a number of outstanding parent education classes to help you prepare for everything from labor and delivery, to breastfeeding and child-rearing. The Women's Center provides a safe and convenient surgery program capable of performing the latest gynecological procedures. Same-day surgery is avialable for many of our procedures. Highly trained staff use state-of-the-art equipment for laser and laparoscopic procedures to treat conditions such as incontinence, endometriosis, and uterine fibroids.

The Women's Center at NFRMC is home to a high performing Gynecology program which is recognized in U.S. News and World Report's 22nd annual Best Hospital Rankings. NFRMC is one of the 587 hospitals in 94 metro areas that meets the high standards for strong performance in at least one or more of the 16 Best Hospitals Specialties.

There are 18 gynecologists on staff at The Women's Center currently helping guide women through their reproductive life cycles and what comes afterward. Choosing the right gynecologist is an important decision which is why we provide options.

Maternal Fetal Medicine

When expecting mothers have concerns regarding carrying their fetus to term, or just have other potential risks associated with pregnancy, they may be referred to a Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Physician. MFM is specialized in providing medical care for mothers facing high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Rizwanna Fareeduddin, better known as Dr. Farred, specializes heavily in Maternal Fetal Medicine here at North Florida Regional Medical Center

Diagnostic Center

The Diagnostic Center, located on the first floor of The Women's Center, offers some of our convenient services all in one location:

  • Maternity Registration
  • Stereotactic Biopsies
  • Bone densities
  • Mammography services

X-rays, EKGs, and other labs are done at our outpatient Pre-Pp services on North Florida Regional's campus.

Breast Health Program

The Breast Health Program at The Women's Center provide board-certified oncologists, gynecologists, radiologists, and surgeons who provide a variety of services listed below:

  • Diagnosis, Treatment and Reconstruction
  • Mammography
  • Breast Ultrasound
  • Several forms of Minimally Invasive
    Breast Biopsies
  • Sentinel Node Studies
  • Surgical interventions
  • Inpatient/Outpatient Chemotherapy
  • Radiation Treatments

North Florida Regional is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and certified in Mammography. We offer digital mammograms that result in shorter exam times, faster results, and better comfort.
