The Sleep Disorders Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for both on-campus testing and Home Sleep Testing (HST). While on-campus testing remains the gold standard, we can provide HST if required.
Is Home Sleep Testing right for you?
Patients eligible for HST must have a high pre-test probability of sleep apnea and no signs or symptoms of comorbid conditions such as congestive heart failure, severe pulmonary disease, neurological disorders or other conditions that would prevent them from using the equipment at home.
HST is only recommended to detect sleep apnea. Patients with symptoms of periodic movements of sleep, narcolepsy, parasomnias or other sleep disorders should be scheduled for testing at The Sleep Disorders Center.
Sleep apnea symptoms include but are not limited to snoring, daytime sleepiness, observed apneas, choking or gasping during sleep and morning headaches.
Please keep in mind that while HST can confirm sleep apnea, a negative HST test does not necessarily rule out sleep apnea.
