North Florida Regional Medical Center celebrates nurses during National Nurses Week, May 6-12, 2019

GAINESVILLE, FL - North Florida Regional Medical Center (NFRMC) will be celebrating National Nurses Week May 6-12, 2019, by taking time to recognize their nurses for all of their contributions to their patients and the hospital. Nurses make up 60% of NFRMC's workforce, and the week's events are meant to highlight, encourage and thank NFRMC's nurses for everything they do for the North Central Florida community.

This year, the theme is, "A Million Reasons to Celebrate You," and hospital leadership will celebrating nursing colleagues by providing treats, meals and opportunities for relaxation for them during their shifts. An awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, to honor NFRMC's Nurses of the Year, Charge Nurses and Daisy Award Winners. Additionally, hospital chaplains will host a non-denominational Blessing of the Hands ceremony for those who would like to participate.

"All of our nurses at NFRMC go above and beyond the call of duty during each and every shift," said NFRMC CEO Eric Lawson. "They not only have to be extremely knowledgeable about their respective field, but they are called upon daily to be compassionate caregivers during our patients' time of need. They are committed to fulfilling our mission with every patient interaction. Mere words could never fully express how incredibly thankful we are for everything that our nurses do, not only for our hospital, but for the patients and communities we have the privilege of serving."
