At the Women’s Center, we provide you with the education and support to help you feel safe, secure and confident throughout your pregnancy, delivery and during the early days with your precious newborn baby.
We offer classes in-person and online. All payments will be made through our Scheduling department at the time of registration.

March 21 and 23 From 6:00pm - 9:00pm
This 2 day event will prepare new babysitters for the fun and challenge of caring for infants and young children. This course will train you in child development and safety as well as teach you CPR for infants and children. (For Ages 11—18). $50 per student
(One 6 hour Saturday class or Two 3 hour weeknight classes)
This is a 6 hour class designed to prepare Mothers to be to successfully navigate the natural process of childbirth. If you desire a natural labor we will cover relaxation and breathing techniques. We will also cover the role of your support person to help you through this exciting experience. If you desire a medicated labor, that situation is covered as well. This class includes a tour of our family-centered maternity unit. $50.00/couple
(Two 6 hour Monday classes)
This six hour, two Monday evening class is designed to prepare families for the birth of their child at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. Topics include: pregnancy, labor, the birth process, breathing and relaxation techniques, to help you feel confident and secure in your childbirth experience. A tour of the North Florida Regional Medical Center family-centered maternity unit must be enrolled in separately and is not included in this class. $35.00/couple
(One 4 hour class on either Saturday or a weeknight)
Gain confidence in caring for your new baby. This class includes general baby care, bathing, diapering, signs of illness, soothing techniques and more. This class is a 4 hour class offered on either Saturday or on one weeknight. $35.00/couple
(One class either 5 hours on Saturday or two 3 hour weeknight classes)
This class offers important information about the basics of breastfeeding. Topics include: the benefits of breastfeeding, maternal nutrition, anatomy, positioning and more. We'll also give you the information you need to pump and store your breast milk. Partners or support persons are welcomed in this class. $35.00.
(One 2 hour class)
This class will prepare parents for infant breathing, airway and cardiac emergencies. Teaching includes information, demonstrations and practice. This is a two-hour class designed by the American Heart Association, CPR Anytime program. This is not a certifying course. $50.00/couple
(3 consecutive weeks for 1.5 hours)
Infant massage is a way to calm the tummy troubles of colic, relax your infant to sleep and also bond with your baby. The class will meet once a week on for 3 consecutive weeks for approximately 1 1/2 hours. Babies must be at least two weeks old. Limited class size. $35.00
(One 2 hour class)
The arrival of a new baby can add uncertainty to a younger sibling. This class teaches children about babies in a fun way. We'll take an exciting trip to the maternity unit to give the child an idea of where their sibling will be born. Your child will also design a personal project to help them feel special. This class is for parents and their children ages 3 to 8 years old. $20.00 per sibling
(1 hour tour)
Our family-centered maternity unit is a unique facility that will allow the birth of your child to be a private and personal experience. This guided tour is suitable for the entire family. Must be at least 32 weeks pregnant to tour. Your tour guide will meet you in the Women's Center Lobby. FREE
New Moms Luncheon (Starting in 2017)
(11:30am - 2:00pm)
Come enjoy a free catered luncheon for all moms who recently delivered their baby here at NFRMC. This luncheon is held every Tuesday in the new South Tower Conference Center located near the main entrance to the hospital. Babies must be at least 2 weeks old and will graduate at 12 weeks of age. Please refrain from bringing siblings, dads, or sick babies to this gathering. No registration is needed. FREE
(2 hour class)
This class will cover how newborns should ride in a car, how to select a safety seat, and how to use and install child restraints correctly. Parents are to bring their car seats, car seat manuals and vehicle manuals to class. Participants will go outside to their cars and install their car seats with the guidance of a certified car seat technician. $10.00
(2 hour class)
We will cover information that will prepare you for your upcoming c-section and it includes a tour of the maternity surgical suite. $35.00
For those planning to attend multiple classes, be sure to take advantage of our three class bundle. We offer Prepared Childbirth, Breastfeeding & Pumping and Newborn Care classes as a set for $100. Call Scheduling at 800-611-6913 to set up your bundled classes.
Online Childbirth Class
The e-Learning Childbirth program is an option for those parents who can’t attend a traditional prenatal class because of distance, bed rest or scheduling problems. It is an interactive web based program that includes animated illustrations, video, voice over and can be viewed on a PC, Mac or mobile device. High speed internet is advised but dial up will work but it will take longer to download. Access to the program is for 6 weeks from the first time you log in. You will receive an access code after you register and pay for class.
Topics include: childbirth education, labor support, discomforts of pregnancy, understanding labor and birth, labor guide, caring for yourself after delivery, and feeding your newborn.

Breastfeeding Online Class
To assist you with breastfeeding your baby, North Florida Regional Medical Center provides an online breastfeeding class free for one year. Your free year would start when you first log on to watch the class. This class contains web-based videos and animations of how the baby latches on, what a baby’s hunger signs can look like, how to know if your baby is getting enough food, how your milk is made, and tips for storing your milk. This class is designed to answer questions and concerns you may have throughout your first year of breastfeeding.
