Preparing for Your Surgery
Welcome to the Pre-operative Pre-admissions Center at North Florida Regional Medical Center. Your surgeon has ordered some pre-operative tests that need to be completed before the day of your surgery. In order to make your pre-operative and operative experiences as positive as possible, we would like you to have the following information.
To serve you in a more time-efficient manner, it is preferred that you make an appointment for your pre-operative registration and clinical services. This can be done when your surgeon’s office is scheduling your surgery with the hospital at which time their call can be transferred to the Pre-Op Preadmission Center to schedule this appointment for you or you may call the Pre-Op Preadmission Center directly at 333-5103 to schedule this appointment yourself.
On the day of your pre-operative appointment, you will need to go to the Pre-Op Preadmission Center. You will need to bring this with you:
- Your insurance card
- Photo ID (such as Driver's license)
- Physician orders for surgery
What should you expect at this appointment?
During registration in the Business Office you will be required to pay or place a deposit for a monthly payment plan and pay your insurance co-pay/deductible.
After registering, you will be given an Anesthesia Questionnaire to fill out while waiting to be seen by a registered nurse who will review this information. It will be helpful for you to know the names and dosages of the medications you presently take, history of previous surgeries and any other important medical history.
Depending on what your surgeon has ordered, you will then have blood drawn, possibly an EKG and/or chest x-ray done.
A registered nurse will give you individualized pre-operative teaching and instructions.
How much time will this take?
Please allow at least 90 minutes if you have a scheduled appointment but longer if you do not have an appointment or if a medical consult with a hospitalist (hospital-based physician) has been ordered for you.
We look forward to seeing you and assisting you as you prepare for your surgery.
